The statutory responsibilities entrusted to the council
Prescribe curriculum and standards for nursing and paramedical education programs throughout the state.
Inspect and accredit nursing and paramedical institutions to ensure they meet prescribed standards.
Maintain the State Register of qualified nursing and paramedical practitioners.
Establish and enforce a code of ethics for professional conduct of nurses and paramedics.
Promote continuing nursing education and provide guidelines for in-service education.
Take disciplinary action against practitioners found guilty of professional misconduct.
