About Us

The Jammu and Kashmir State Nursing Council was established under the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Paramedical/Nursing Council Act, 2012. This Act received the assent of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor on October 14, 2024, and was officially published in the Government Gazette on October 16, 2024. The primary objective of the Council is to regulate the registration, training, and qualification of nurses, midwives, and health visitors across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The Council plays a vital role in upholding the standards of nursing education and professional practice to ensure quality healthcare services for the people of the region.

Our Vision

Enhancing Healthcare Standards: The Council aims to improve the quality of healthcare services across Jammu and Kashmir and throughout India. Policy Development: It serves as an agency to develop nursing staffing norms, recruitment policies, remuneration structures, and other nursing-related policies. Empowering Nursing Professionals: The Council focuses on enabling nurses, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), Female Health Workers (FHWs), midwives, and female health assistants to provide patient care through safe practices. Maintaining Professional Records: It maintains a comprehensive database of practicing nurses within the state and across the country
